We did it! 🐠

We launched our new recognition system the second week of school and we've already earned a spirit day. Students filled this big jar with fish and gems.

Tomorrow is fish spirit day. Stay tuned for pictures.

Thatcher super heroes

A while back I introduced my friends, who I sometimes call the Thatcher 3. Respectra, Agent Safety and Captain Responsibilty are close friends who "dived" right in to help with our new LAKE theme.

PBiS launch

Greetings

For those of you who do not know me, my name is Thatcher the Eagle. I am the school mascot at Thatcher Brook Primary School right here in Waterbury, Vermont.   I had a pretty busy summer and now I am back ready to start this school year with some awesomeness.

Today marked the launch of our PBiS booster. We have revamped everything and are really jazzed about it. Students following the 3 codes will be recognized with Thatcher food (aka fish and water). These little plastic fish and blue marbles are earned for being respectful, responsible and safe. I already saw many fish bowls in the building filling up today.

Please check out the slide show  we shared today. Can't wait for the fish spirit day when our tank is filled.

Your feathery friend signing off,
Thatcher.
And remember "catch" then following the codes

Celebrating the return of Thatcher the Eagle!

I have been on a little bit of a hiatus, touring the beautiful landscapes and such.  The students have noticed my absence and brought it to the powers that be.  And so, I'm back.  Better than ever.

Here's what I am bringing back with me... a challenge.  The challenge is for classrooms to use their 100 charts to collect recognitions for expected classroom behavior and following the codes.  When those 100 charts are filled, they are brought to the office where they are traded for a feather.  These feathers are valuable.  3 classroom feathers will earn the class a mini-me, Thatcher the Eagle for the classroom mascot delivered by yours truly.  5 feathers will earn the class time in the Maker Space on Friday June 9, 2017.

The students are jazzed and teachers are prepared with fly-bys in hand.  We are going to "catch" the kids following the codes.  What a positive way to end the year!
