NEST this week.

Ms. Crickard-Thompson shared her NEST activity this week:

Who am I . . .

I come from above,
I start out as rain
When I hit the cold I change.
I have six points so bright
I sparkle in the moonlight.
I shimmer in the sun
Kids can't wait to have fun.
When they awake
They see me.
I'm a SNOWFLAKE!

Looks like fun. Thanks for sharing!

New Year, New goal

Happy New Year!
I have this feeling that 2017 is going to be amazing!

We launched a new booster today to celebrate the new year. As a school, we will be focusing on hallway and common area behavior for the next two months. Students will be earning fly-bys and other recognition for walking, keeping hands by sides, and using quiet voices. (Those are the Thatcher 3 for the hallway).
Also to celebrate our continued support of our friends at Kaplan Elementary School, we will be wearing black and/or gold on Fridays for the next 8 weeks.

Our friends are also on board with the booster focus:

A little behind

All my friends are busy migrating south. I traded in warmer days a long time ago to spend time in my favorite place year round.
So since last I wrote, quite a bit has happened:

  • We earned an Imagination Playground celebration because we have earned so many recognitions, flybys and dollars for our sister school.

  • We talked a lot about being grateful as we headed into the Thansgiving Holiday. Thank you to Ms. Monley for the amazing opportunity to think, reflect, and create.

  • NEST groups are up and running. They are a great way to connect with each other.
  • And then we had the annual River of Light lantern parade. It was beautiful as always. I love having the bird's eye view.

Quick update

Ms. Goodnow cashed in the coin jar this week and it was over $150. She sent the check straight to Kaplan Elementary School. Way to go Eagles!

All School Morning Meeting

One Tuesday morning a month the whole student body of Thatcher Brook Primary School gather together in the gym for an All School Morning Meeting (previously referred to as All School Share).  It's pretty cool to see...swing by and see one if you get a chance.
This Tuesday had a great line up:
* kick off by Ms. Goodnow, who used a great call/response to get everyone's attention.  "When I say Thatcher, you say Brook."  "Thatcher!" "Brook!"
*Ms. Carlson led a great birthday song for October birthdays
*Mrs. Baitz announced mile club accomplishments
*Ms. Monley unveiled the beautiful Buddy Benches for our playground.  They will be ready to roll once they are sealed to protect them from weather.
*Ms. Mandy presented about progress in our booster.  We've earned almost $100 for our sister school just in expected behavior. That doesn't even include all the money donated in the jar.
*Ms. Mandy also announced that NESTs will start on October 18. An audible cheer could be heard from the crowd of students.
